Walking and Cycling Index, Active Travel and Behaviour Change

Thursday, 11:00-12:30,

Festival Tent, Father Burke Park,

Free registration required: Register here.

The Walking and Cycling Index supports leaders of cities and towns in understanding and improving walking, wheeling, and cycling in their communities.  It captures public attitudes and provides robust evidence of the benefits of increased use of active travel, both for individual users and for society as a whole.

The report is prepared by the Walk, Wheel, Cycle Trust and covers 22 cities across Ireland and the UK, including the Galway Metropolitan Area.  In Ireland, its publication is supported by the National Transport Authority and relevant local authorities.

This event will entail a panel discussion (speakers TBC) focused on the findings of the Walking and Cycling Index, the development of Active Travel infrastructure in Galway and elsewhere, and ways to facilitate more people to participate in active walking, wheeling and cycling.

The event will be of interest to those working in the delivery of infrastructure, especially active travel, and those interested in walking and cycling generally.
