Climate change is hitting harder and closer to home. Storm Eowyn and Chandra have exposed how unevenly climate impacts are felt across Ireland. Some communities bounce back quickly; others face long-term disruption, financial strain, and heightened vulnerability.

This talk dives into the human side of climate change, who is most affected, why certain groups are at greater risk, and what Ireland can learn from global frontline communities. From flood-prone rural towns to coastal villages and marginalised urban areas, we’ll explore how extreme weather amplifies social, health and economic inequalities.

Looking outward, we’ll examine international models of resilience: nature-based flood defences, community-driven adaptation, early warning systems, and social protection programmes that protect those most at risk.

The session offers a clear message: climate action must be fair, inclusive, and centred on the people who need it most. It’s time to rethink resilience—locally and globally. Panellists and speakers TBC
